This unknown variety of pomegranate is growing in the Fayetteville, NC area. Over 25 years ago a gentleman was given 2 pomegranate trees for some work he had completed. He dug them up from the yard that they were in and planted them at his own house. He lived in that house until about 4 years ago. The current owner of the house still maintains the trees. The first tree produces medium sized, tart pomegranates. Most seasons it produces an average amount of fruit. The second tree variety is also unknown, but recently has produced little to no fruit.
* Many thanks to L. Franklin for giving me access to this pomegranate tree
* I'm looking for other pomegranate trees producing fruit in southern states. Please send a picture with a short history of the tree, if you would like it posted here.
